About Industrial Automation Program

The Industrial Automation Engineering program, specifically Automation and Control Engineering, was established in 1994, where the first batch was graduated in the academic year 1999/2000. This program aims at graduating male and female engineers who are able to build control systems and automated electric drives with multiple tasks by computer and digital systems using modern programming languages. In addition, a graduate of this major possesses the ability and skills necessary to build and manage automated and service systems and rationalize energy use. This is clearly evident in the courses offered in this program, which include courses in electrical engineering, both power and electronics, and mechanical engineering, as well as several courses in the field of programming, control networks and automation , and computer engineering.

 

  • To provide the Palestinian industrial  sector with engineers who have a strong scientific background, and with needed skills and ability to build and maintain industrial systems.
  • Preparation of properly trained human resources in areas of electrical drives, renewable energy, SCADA, and networking PLC, with particular emphasis on quality programs.
  • Expansion of  graduate  studies,  and  support  of  scientific  research  and  professional  studies either locally or globally.  
  • Development of student personality and professional  ethics via a balanced program of extracurricular  activities  envisaged  to  form  an  integral  part  of  student  life  on  campus. 
  • To equipped  graduated students with needed knowledge to start their  own business, and to run of  spin companies in the field of industrial automation

 

  1. Students of the of the Engineering program will have:
  2. an ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics
  3. an ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors
  4. an ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences
  5. an ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
  6. an ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives
  7. an ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions
  8. an ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

 

The industrial automation engineer or more precisely the electrical drive and control engineer is the engineer whose field of work is focused on the following:

  • Designing and building industrial and service systems, monitoring and alarm devices
  • Contracting engineer for electrical contracting and projects in the field of electric installation, and lighting.
  • Building and monitoring industrial production lines related to stone, food and beverage, wood and plastic industries as well as building systems for water services, installing elevators, escalators, and conducting wide range of maintenance tasks related to industrial and house holding appliances..
  • Engineer for installation and control of conventional energy systems and renewable energy such as wind and solar generators and systems.
  • Designing and building of power conversion circuits for power supplies, UPS and driving modules.
  • Working in the field of engineering trading and commercialization
  •  Working as research assistance in academic and research institutions 
  • This program constitutes a solid base for students to complete their studies to obtain a master's or doctorate degree in many electrical and control tracks.
