Power systems engineers monitor and maintain the quality, availability, reliability, transferability, and safety of the power systems we depend on daily, including smart grid technologies for distributed power generation and smart transmission line system technology.

 

  1. The Electrical Power Engineering Technology program is a five-year Bachelor's degree designed to meet the demand for engineers in the rapidly evolving electrical power sector.
  2. This program provides a study of electrical power engineering, electrical power and machinery, energy and the environment, smart grids, computer-aided circuit simulations, and renewable energy.
  3. The program focuses not only on new technologies but also on efficiency enhancement and building upon a foundation of engineering knowledge.
  4. The program provides a solid foundation in mathematics, science, and engineering theory and gradually builds practical and engineering design skills, as well as a full spectrum of employability skills, through its project-based learning approach.

 

  1. An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
  2. An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, as well as, environmental, and economic factors.
  3. An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.
  4. An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgments, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal context.
  5. An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goal, plan task, and meet objectives.
  6. An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyses, and interpret data, and use engineering judgment to draw conclusions..
  7. An ability to acquired and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.

 

Students who graduate with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Power Engineering Technology have a variety of career options in the field. They can choose to work in electrical power control and applications, as well as in the design of electrical power systems and equipment.
