Management information systems are all about integrating software, human resources, and data in order to effectively manage institutions and streamline their operations. These systems aim to leverage technology to gain a competitive advantage and identify suitable technological solutions. They also involve designing, analyzing, and programming administrative needs while predicting and analyzing market demands.

Program Message:

The Information Systems Program at Palestine Polytechnic University aims to equip the local community with highly skilled specialists in the field of information systems. These specialists are trained to adeptly use management information and information technology, contributing significantly to the advancement of institutional practices.

Program Details:

The Information Systems program was established in 1995/1996 at Palestine Polytechnic University. It is a 4-year program that culminates in a Bachelor's degree in Administrative Sciences, majoring in information systems.

This program holds a distinguished position both locally and regionally. It was designed to meet the demands of the job market and to produce qualified professionals in the field of management information systems.

The program's significance lies in its integration of business administration and information technology. Students learn to design, analyze, and program the needs of business enterprises, utilizing technology to gain a competitive edge, explore opportunities, and stand out from competitors.

Graduates of the information systems program possess a blend of technical expertise acquired through information technology courses, covering networking, database management, database programming, and various programming languages. Additionally, they develop excellent management and personal skills through a diverse set of administrative courses, including management, human resource management, business correspondence, organizational behavior, strategic management, and decision-making.

The program welcomes students from different high school streams, including scientific, literary, and commercial streams.

The courses in the program are taught by top lecturers and teachers specializing in information systems, management, and information technology, ensuring a high-quality education.

Admission requirements

  • The student should possess General Secondary School Certificate (Tawjihi), or its equivalent in any of the recognized general secondary branches approved by the Ministry of Education.
  • The student must have achieved a minimum score of 70 in the scientific stream 75 of any other stream.

The program aims to equip students with comprehensive knowledge and technical skills in computer software, networking, and various business disciplines such as management, economics, and accounting. Additionally, it focuses on providing essential expertise to effectively integrate software and computer technologies across diverse work fields.

 

Key Objectives:

  1. Enhancing Employability: The program strives to increase graduates' employability by aligning educational outcomes with the dynamic demands of the labor market. Modern and innovative teaching methods are employed to ensure students are well-prepared for professional roles.
  2. Fostering Partnerships: Strengthening collaboration with different sectors is achieved through the "sandwich" system, in line with the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research's general direction.
  3. Global Market Readiness: Graduates are prepared to excel in local, Arab, and international markets, particularly in the information systems field.

 

To accomplish these objectives, a well-structured curriculum has been developed, totaling 123 credit hours. This curriculum incorporates recommendations from esteemed international bodies such as AIS, ACM, and IEEE. The academic component spans three years at the university, followed by a practical year dedicated to training students in designing and developing information systems at collaborating partner institutions.

Upon completing the program, graduates have diverse career opportunities in both government and private sector institutions. The most prominent fields in which they can excel include:
